• Why won't the burner on my gas grill light?
Be sure the LP cylinder is filled and the cylinder valve is open. For natural gas, be sure the gas supply is open. The igniter may be malfunctioning or the igniter wire may be loose. Check to see if the electrode tip has a blue spark and make sure the igniter wire terminals are securely attached to both the igniter and the electrode.
The electrode igniter uses (2) D cell batteries which may need replacing. Also be sure the gap between the electrode tip and the burner tube is 3/16 inch.
• The burner is lit on my gas grill but why is the flame so low?
The excess flow valve at the inlet fitting of the regulator may be activated which will shut off the gas. To correct this, turn LP gas cylinder off and then turn the grill control knob to the off position. Next turn on the gas cylinder and light the grill.
If the LP tank is under 1/2 full and the outside temperature is below 32 degrees, the LP gas may be frozen. If this happens you will need to replace with a full tank.
• Why would the flame on my gas grill blow out?
The LP tank is empty or the gas is turned off.
• What causes the flame on my gas grill to blow out on low?
Your grill may still be cold. Be sure to allow the grill to heat on HIGH for 5 minutes before turning the control knob to LOW. It could be too cold and/or windy outside. If so, use the medium setting and, if it's a mobile grill, turn it away from the wind.
• What can I do to prevent grease fires and flash-back fires with my gas grill?
Regularly clean out excess grease and food residues from the even heat convection plate and drip tray. Line the drip tray with aluminum foil and then add a thick layer of sand or kitty litter. This helps eliminate flare ups and makes for easy cleaning of the drip tray.
• Can I convert my gas grill from one fuel type to another?
Yes, you can. All grills are shipped LP but there is a natural gas conversion kit available. Have an authorized dealer do the conversion.
• What is the purpose of the moveable burner on my gas grill?
This burner allows you to move the heat to 2 positions. Move the burner to the back position and it positions directly under the cast iron searing plates. Do this to sear cuts of meat and seal in the juices, for tastes like you would enjoy at a famous steak house. Move the burner forward to the convection mode to cook your food from the inside out. This gives you moister and juicer tasting food rather than food that is dry, which is often caused by conventional direct methods that cook food from the outside in.
• What does the stainless steel convection plate on my gas grill do?
This plate is designed to evenly spread out the heat across the entire cooking surface to eliminate hot or cold spots like most grills have. The slots cut into the plate were developed through a computer analysis and are positioned to push heated air through the typical cold spots on your grill, thus evening heating across the entire cooking surface. Please clean out excess grease and food residue to allow the convection plate to properly move heated air to all areas of the grill. This will help reduce the possibility of grease fires. The convection plate also allows for convection heat just like your oven, which circulates heat around the food and eliminates the need for a messy rotisserie. All that is needed to cook whole poultry and large cuts of meat is a roasting pan. A roasting rack is recommended but is not essential for cooking in this method.
• How does the built-in probe on your gas grill work and what is its function?
The probe was built into the grill so that food can always be cooked to the desired level of doneness. The probe takes the guess work out of cooking. To use, set the temperature knob (temperatures range from 140 - 185 degrees Fahrenheit,) to your desired setting, turn the On/Off switch to ON, and insert the stainless steel probe into the center of your food. As the internal temperature rises, the control panel lights will start to come on and will continue until the grill reaches the temperature you set on the knob. When your food reaches the desired temperature the light will flash and an audio alarm will sound to let you know your food is done.
