Do I need a chimney to burn a Harman Pellet Stove?
Harman Pellet Stoves do need to be vented to the outside. This can be done with a special pellet vent pipe in a short configuration. As little as one foot of horizontal pipe is acceptable, however, we do recommend at least 4 feet of vertical be used to assist in draft incase of a power outage.

How does Harman’s Automatic Ignition work?
When the stove’s control system determines a need to ignite it sends power to the igniter, feed motor and combustion blower. The feed motor stops after a few minutes when enough fuel has been purged into the burn pot. The combustion blower pulls air over the igniter and thru the fuel located in the burn pot. As the combustion blower pulls the hot air thru the fuel heating it up eventually lighting it on fire.

How often do the ashes need to be emptied in a Harman Pellet Stove?
Harman Pellet Stoves come standard with a large ash pan. Each ash pan is capable of holding the ash from approximately one ton of pellets or more.

What are pellets made of?
Wood pellets are made from sawdust and/or other wood waste. The raw material is pressed and then dried to a consistent moisture level, usually below 5%. There is no glue or adhesives used it is simply dried to hold shape.

What does true direct vent mean?
Harman pellet stoves have one air intake. This intake provides air for combustion as well as air wash to the glass. When connected to an outside air source it makes the stove a direct vent appliance. The benefit of this is that it allows the termination of the venting to be closer to an operable window or door. Harman Pellet Stoves are the only known stoves to allow this. All combustion air is coming from outside allowing no air from within the home to be used.

What is special about Harman’s Patented Burn Pot and Feeder?
Harman’s feeder system is designed to push unwanted ash out of the burn pot as the fresh fuel is fed in. This “self-cleaning” design allows for any brand of pellets to be burned regardless of ash content.

What is the difference between Stove Temperature Mode and Room Temperature Mode?
In Stove Temperature Mode, the stove will maintain a constant output based on exhaust temperature. In Room Temperature Mode the stove will adjust its output to maintain a constant Room Temperature based on temperature being reported by a sensing probe located in the room.
